In a recent representative case, one of our members was left to pay a balance of almost $25,000 in physician and hospital charges following review of his claim by his insurance carrier. We intervened on behalf of our member and were able to eliminate virtually the entire balance following discussions and negotiations with the medical providers involved.

Reduced Medical Claims Cost We are also seeing enormous financial implications in the area of what is best described as "Doctor Shopping" or "Medical Ping-Pong." Our work reveals a pattern of multiple medical claims as individuals in need of care wander their way through the system and "get lost" in the healthcare maze. In this scenario, the employee or their family member has a medical problem, but cannot get the appropriate relief. They search to find the "best" physician to treat or manage their condition. The result as they go from doctor to doctor is duplicate laboratory tests, unnecessary diagnostic procedures and wasted medications. Of course, claim costs in these cases grow exponentially. One example of our solution for this problem is our Advocates of Excellence program. It is designed to provide immediate intervention to help get our members to the "best-in-class" provider and have their care properly managed. This "do it right the first time" approach saves both precious medical resources and significant costs.
